Actually the society plays a vital role in others’ decision-making to purchase something. The sense of belonging it brings to the buyer is a huge factor. Owning luxurious items will make you think that you’ll be instantly related to the group of people you wanted to be accepted in. You will also possess the bragging right to show off because well, that’s one perk you are entitled upon owning a luxury.
But try to compare the branded bag to an affordable one base on its purpose and not the price and label. You’ll realize that other bags are more practical as it has more space for your stuffs and you can bring it anywhere without the worry of it being worn out. Due to the luxe an item has, the main necessity is disregarded in exchange for the feeling you’ll get. Again, luxury is not about the price, it is a feeling.
Same with travelling, scroll through social media sites and you’re bound to be bombarded with overwhelming pictures of well-traveled personalities or even people you personally know. Before it is considered a luxury because of expensive fares and costs that goes with it. But in today’s modern times that promo and discounts are left and right, why is travelling still considered a luxury? That is why a lot of people think of it as a high-maintenance hobby or treat for themselves. Not because they cannot really afford the price but because of the time, access, and other things to be thought of.
Hence, luxury is something that has been created because of the ideals it imposes that rooted from its history and other considerations aside from the standard quality it boasts.
