Bad Habits That Hurt Your Eyes

Eye Rubbing: Pulling and Tugging at the skin around your eyes too hard may break blood vessels under your eyelids. If you’re experiencing discomfort in your eyes, a cold compress will be a great way to soothe them.

Smoking: According to studies, smokers are have higher chances of going blind than non-smokers. Smoking causes cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eyes and other threatening conditions. The good news is, once you stop smoking, the chances of developing eye and other health conditions can be reduced.
Eating Poorly and Not drinking enough water: It is important to eat foods that are good for your body and your eyes. Green and Leafy Vegetables are proven to improve eye health. It is also important to reduce intake of foods high in sodium which can dehydrate the body. Drinking an ample amount of water is important for tear production and for keeping your eyes lubricated.
Not getting enough sleep: Not getting enough sleep can accelerate ageing. It is also important for your eyes to get enough rest and enough amount of time to be closed. Lack of sleep causes dark circles around the eyes, eye twitching, and blurry vision
Using Smartphone for Long Hours: Long hours spent on your looking on your phone and reading small fonts causes dry eyes, blurry vision, nausea, and headache. Look up from your phone every now and then to give your eyes a break. It would also be advisable to use bigger fonts so you won’t have a hard time reading on your phone.
Watching or Reading in the Dark: Watching TV or Reading in the dark causes too much strain in the eyes. Your eyes struggle to adapt to the rapid changes of the levels of light. Using your eyes in the dark leads to pain and discomfort, headaches, dry eyes, and redness.
Misusing Eye Makeup: If you use eye products such as eye shadow, mascara, and eye creams, it is important to not apply up to your lash line and block the oil glands of your eyelids.
