5 Eye-Catching Tips to Keep Your Eyes Healthy

  1. Eat Healthy and Balanced Meals: Taking care of your eyes and your body first starts with the food that you eat. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, vitamin C, and vitamin E can greatly decrease the chances of age-related eye problems, You can get these nutrients when you intake the following foods:
  • Milk and eggs
  • Green and leafy vegetables, carrots, and tomatoes
  • Oranges and Other Citrus Fruits
  • Fish

QUIT SMOKING: Smoking is not only bad for your lungs and the environment, studies show that smoking also causes Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), or the damaging of one of the parts of the Retina called the Macula, as well. 4. Have Your Eyes Regularly Checked Up: As the saying goes, prevention is always better than cure. Even if you are not wearing glasses or experiencing any eye-related problems, you should have your eyes checked, as early as 18 years of age. This is also advisable if you have a family health history of diabetes and high blood pressure, as people who suffer from these are more likely to develop eye problems.
